If DHL and especially Amazon want a low cost airline, why didn't they start one? What they want is a quality product, a reliable product. And these things have a price.
The only thing they are concerned about is low cost. You are the lower cost alternative.

DHL shutdown Astar when they got too big for their britches. Why do you think DHL diversifies it's lift with lower cost carriers than ABX?

Amazon uses Uber for deliveries, you really think they are all concerned with service? Amazon has the $$$ to buy and start it's own airline but doesn't want to because it knows that it's cheaper to contract it out and the the competition to get a piece of the Amazon action will be fierce and therefore, driving down Amazon's cost.

DHL and Amazon will get good service from the contractors because the contractors know that if they don't perform they will be replaced. Same goes for the majority of the contractor pilots. They know not to bite the hands that feed them (DHL and Amazon).
