This was not mentioned nor asked about. Your notion makes sense re: the 717 vs the CS100 but Delta could potentially use the CS100 on more medium distance flights because of its fuel efficiency rather than on shuttle type ops. Joe did say that the CS100's efficiency might mean we fly it on legs like Seattle to DFW and use it to bring passengers to the Pacific hubs for travel to Asia as opposed to hopping up and down the west coast.
As far as the LA base is concerned, you may have heard we're doing lots of terminal work there and that our ops will move to the north side of the airport. "New and improved" terminal but I don't know if that will net us more gates.
As for NY, the long-range terminal re-do in LGA will make the C & D terminal areas all Delta and kick the American gates up to the existing American area at Terminal B. I don't know what the net gate change will be for us there. There's also continuing discussion on removing the "perimeter rule" to allow LGA departures to fly beyond the 1500-mile ring. It's with the Governor's Office for decision.
