Alligiant has pretty much zero work rules and far below average pay for the new cycle.
Regional fos will flock just for the pay rates but will be doing just what many hope to do here which is camp out for a time while trying to get out. Even rj fos are savy enough to know that was a bottom feeder contract. But because they aren't looking long term they will most likely choose alligiant over spirit which should give us some leverage but if our management thinks we will sign for anything remotely close to what alligiant just ratified they are seriously delusional.
What works rules are you referring to because as I commute on other airlines, I don't hear five days off between pairings, transition conflict, line bidding, 29/7, trip drops, red/green, pickup in other bases, base bids on a monthly basis, holiday conflicts, training conflicts, 100% DH pay, no junior assignment, pay for cancelled trips, no ad hoc reassignments, instructors on the seniority list, first come first serve open time pickups, etc. sure there are some airlines that have some of these, and there are some airlines that have some things we don't, especially on the pay/retirement side, but no airline has the work rules we have. Once we give that up, once we give up the QOL items in our current contract (I know not everything I mentioned is truly a "work rule" and some QOL items are becaus we are growing), we'll never get them back and no increase in hourly rate is sufficient to cover the loss of these items.
