It's been very junior historically, lots of people get it as a new hire but most can hold a real base before they finish training. It could possibly start to get more senior since our per diem has gone up and you'll now be getting an extra $1600ish a month tax free. You can also take the 'hotel option' and be paid for half the cost of the hotel but you then need to provide your own housing and transportation.

It's nice we have this now, it cuts back on the involuntary TDY for the guys who don't wanna leave their domicile.
