Why fly 72hours for 72hours credit when you can fly 40hours for 100hours of credit? Business sense.
Is it because those guys we don't have a contract? Yea right. Lets get real people. You can't expect people not to pick up a trip because it MIGHT help get a contract sooner (it won't). You have to plan with what you know NOW. And what these people know NOW is that we aren't getting paid industry standard. Our contract allows us to do so much, so utilize it.
There isn't enough unity in this, or any, pilot group for this mentality to work. "Oh, you need to just fly your line so we can get a contract." Wake up man. Not gonna happen. There is always somebody willing to fly on a day off. Either junior $38/hr guys who want more money, or the senior guys who haven't had a JM call in years.
Sorry Broheim, paying a guy $250 an hour doesn't hurt the company one bit. You're right about one thing, somebody will end up saving the day! Heck, our own union volunteers are bailing this company out time and time again... But wait, it's just this one time..over and over again. I'm tired of it, tired of the repeat offenders, tired of the non green lanyard crew. Everyone has an effing excuse!! GMAFB! Then we point fingers and wonder why we don't have a contract. Houston was awesome..but it's forgotten and we're back to our selfish ways.
Furthermore, cancelling a flight costs the company thousands in rebooking fees for other airlines.. Way more than that 3rd year CA at 128$ plus his 1.5 hours of MUP!
