I understand that at the airline industry I would not be rewarded that much per year. If after a few years at skywest, is it correct that you will recieve 3 weeks vacation per year? If so, are you able to combine a week (5 days) at a time with having 4 scheduled days off during a month to make a longer vacation? Is this difficult to accomplish? The attempt is to be able to take a longer vacation than just five days off at a time. Thanks for any information you can provide.
Vacation is accrued from year one but can only be used after your first year (though people have gotten off through their chief pilots) vacation (and user time which can be used as vacation time) is accrued based on your longevity. Not actual numbers here but say 0.05 per hour, you need 2.5 hours to get a vacation day as a line holder and 4.2 as reserve. That being said say my vacation is 1-10th, and I'm only on reserve 1-4 I'll only use vacation for those days on reserve. As a line holder , depending on staffing u can drop and trade trips to make it work, easiest way is to bid to be off last few days of a month and off first few days of next month. 6 weeks vacation you say? That's extreme, my wife only gets two weeks a year and she's at a very good company. The US is poor on vacation but people make it work.
