The vast majority of the performance stuff is just reading a souped-up Cessna perf chart, sometimes a few charts combined. That said, even using the best ruler I could find, I sometimes still didn't come up with the same answer the FAA did... And there are a couple where they want you to plan a whole route, and I agree - those are totally a pain. But, in theory you could just leave those blank and still get a 98%...
