I appreciate finishing the commitment to their country, but they're also finishing their commitment to a retirement that pays handsomely for 4 decades.
Military members who aren't immediately retirement eligible but will get a reserve retirement are still accruing retirement credit in the military, not to mention a paycheck and benefits that likely exceed regional F/O numbers by a lot.
Different way of looking at it I suppose.
If you want to look at it from a money perspective, there are folks in their late 20s I got hired with who will make much more money than I did over those same years and also more than someone their age who serves in the military til they retire and then come to a major airline.
I was looking at it from the timing perspective and pointing out that folks from both regional airlines and the military are put in the timing situations of their respective organizations.
