I know a couple people in my local WIA chapter that are in their 50s and retired or semi-retired from their current careers, and have inquired about flying part time at my airline. They would probably jump at the opportunity to fly like 2 4-days per month, instead of a real schedule.

The main problem I see is that most full time jobs give benefits like 401k and insurance, most parttime do not. Our benefits are already lacking compared to other industries and the major airlines. This parttime model would, In my opinion, undermine the ability to make gains in benefits in future contract negotiations. If the airlines can figure out a way to cut these benefits we know they will.
