I don't think it was a coincidence that a L UAL pilot, who was out on mil leave (or furlough - I don't recall),was the attorney of record, suing on behalf of the affected CAL pilots. He most certainly wasn't popping smoke. As I recall, he was a hornet driver who did what ALPA would not do, and that was represent these pilots issues and interests.
Mil leave, because it is protected by federal law, is like any other activity protected by federal or state law. I only need to point out the use of HANDICAP parking users or the now ubiquitous "service or emotional support dogs". How often has one come across a "service or emotional support dog in a restaurant , grocery store or airport. I have yet to see one in church but I'm sure they are there also. Now days the Military is very respected but back in my day, I remember coming home from Vietnam and all I got were stares and sneers. I remember even college professors making derogatory comments to me. So be proud our military compadres but know that when you sharpshoot the system by mil dropping Christmas or some other major holiday,you are creating a negative opinion of your status as a military officer
