Every flight, during preflight, copy the active to the secondary.
If there are multiple runways in use for departure, and I have the time will load the alternate runway/performance in the secondary. Same goes for arrival, IAH for example- coming from the north planning 26r but desire 27 since parking on the south side, so I will load the 27 approach in the secondary.
So I use the secondary a good bit.
