OK, first of all, there is no such thing as a "regional" route. All routes are those of the "major" who codeshares it. Are you just figuring out that the airline business changes rapidly? That is the way it has been since commercial air travel started.
Delta has taken back a lot on the west coast (pdx, las, San, sea, smf....) out of lax. Out of Slc its been (boi, geg, rno, lax, sna....). Out of Msp (rap, mot, msn, mke, mci....) you get point.
I know we have taken back some of the stuff out of sfo, den, and ord (eug, psp, sea, pdx, msn, mke, rno, dfw, aus, phx) and on and on. It's a pendulum that is swinging in the shift towards mainline.
I think the sgu's and devils lakes are safe though for the time being.
