You bid/select your schedule and then start IOE. IOE is with an IP or check airman. Minimum of 15 hrs - could be more depending on circumstances. Once that's complete, you go to the line. IOE is done on your selected schedule; you could start right away, but usually only if you request it. You'll get plenty of days off in between if you need it.
