12 months ago SkyWest was trying to position to get flying from UA in Chicago which fell through and ended up going to Mesa and Republic. So the idea that SkyWest magically said lets put 50% reserve staffing in Chicago and not use the guys and just lay them to sit at home was most likely not the thought process.
It's funny you think that way, 12 months ago LAX didn't exist. PDX had barely and 175's and SEA had only a few as well. We got DL flying announced a year ago and Just 3 months ago finally got official word SEA and LAX is where they were going and we still don't know how many are going to LAX and when. So how sir do we magically predict the future and put pilots places where we don't yet know for sure we will need them????

The reason for the over staff was do to what's going on right now 6 planes a month. You have to "pre-train" for that...
