I use the DC ProX and like them. I have done flights ANC-ORD (7ish hours) and have not had any "head in a vice" feelings. They are very lightweight, comfortable, quiet, and at AS, we always use the intercom to talk (unless there is a jump seater we want to talk to).

For the suitcase, the Kirkland 22" from Costco works great. It is lightweight, sturdy, and only $99.
