There is one thing we can all agree on here, we all want a fair contract ASAP. The problem we all have is how to get there, many disagreements. We were willing to put that aside in order to show support for the NC and make Spirit think twice about further delaying the process. This petition that you loath brought many that feel underrepresented or no representation together to join in support. It's like the DFW LEC petition, you can only ignore a growing group so long before there is a mutiny in order to get their voice heard. Today it was acknowledged with a staged question as to how this petition helps or hurts. The MEC or NC would never advocate any movement like this outside the power structure, so what would you expect to hear? I think that the question was handled well, and I believe that this group of over 300 pilots made them raise eyebrows and include us in the process a bit more. The major problem with ALPA is that it is stuck in an outdated structure of power and communications. Social media and forums are a huge part of our society and probably will be for many years to come. This is one of many grassroots efforts that will come and go by different groups wanting different things at many airlines. The only time this group is acknowledged is when these efforts become public and question the power of those in charge. The secrecy, the "call your rep", ask a P2P member, etc netted zero information. This effort helped engage and open up the process to us all. I give credit where it's due, and I credit the NC for being forthcoming finally. I think the issue of the petition was given its credit, albeit very measured on the call. Many of us here just want to make this place a career, something we can be proud of. We just all seem to have different ways and views on achieving that.
