In the flight deck we encourage our F/O's to contribute. I would never say to a First Officer, "Sit there shut up and trust me I know best."
We should encourage participation. That is also how we show support. The NC and MEC is free to say Thanks, but we will try option A first.
Okay let's all agree we are unified in terms of wanting (and deserving) a raise. The question is: how can we work together to show our unity? That's what we need. Having unity and working together to display our unity are two different things.
Imagine 10 construction workers unified by the end goal of building a house. 7 of them are following the building plans but the remaining 3 go off on their own because they think they have a better way of doing things. Maybe they do, but the end result is going to be that the house will take longer to build because they weren't ALL working together. But they are all still participating. A spectator watching event would not use the word "unified" to describe the workers.
Do you think the company would use the words "unified" when they talk about our pilots? After that petition? I have my doubts. We need to change that.
Whatever it takes
