United benefits are close to useless, given that UA flights are nearly always full unless you're traveling in October or February, and mainline folks get to bump you with vacation passes all day long. And you can forget about upgrades, except on very rare occasions. DL benefits are better, especially since upgrades are free and you actually stand a chance of getting a seat.
