Exactly. Perhaps those airlines you mentioned aren't your first priority. However if you don't get hired at your first or second choice airlines and your third choice never calls having that 1000 TPIC to qualify for SWA,FDX,UPS is a good strategy for ones next career move.
When I had a chance to leave the regionals for an LCC without 1K TPIC I had those exact same concerns. However I didn't have to make that choice as I wasn't selected. When United came calling and I was still without 1K TPIC I left in a heart beat.
