Agree DENTK would be a great central location but it is under major construction, half the facility is under some sort of construction/asbestos removal/etc and half the folks there have been displaced to other areas. Not sure what IAHTK looks like anymore, but I suspect it's not a showcase to attract new talent anymore with all the deconstruction that's been goin on. ORD would be pretty expensive for candidates as they likely would have to do it at WHQ.

Is this a way to boost traffic to SFO in the off season?
SFO is close to Travis AFB and not much else in terms of military pilots.
It would be much better event in GA or TX or even NY/NJ where there is a lot more military traffic.
Well, good to see they are helping recruit more military. Maybe this is an outreach primarily from the SFO Chief pilots office. I hope there would be another one for the East Coast and another one for Central US. Military guys don't get Non rev privileges like their regional brethren where they can Jumpseat from one coast to another.
Good luck all.
When I got a short notice (<12 hours) invite to meet with a chief pilot, I dropped several grand on a plane ticket to be there. All told after sim time, prep, hotel rooms, etc I was probably $5k or more invested by the time I got lucky enough to get the call with a job offer.
(Not you personally Z but the standard applicant) You're chasing a multi-million dollar career. If you can't
get off your ass and go to them, and expect an employer to come to you.... You're going to be very bored and broke for a long time. Take a look at what places like Hawaiian make you go through. SWA made guys pay for their own type until they couldn't get away with that anymore, etc. UAL is holding a Veteran specific event at a certain place/time. Show up or not, but expect to be called after the ones that do.

If Apple were to try a major recruiting event in my home town (2,000 relatively tech unsay you folks strong), you might hear similar criticisms.
My .02 cents
There are no snow flakes in the business, and this isn't Apple. You're competing with literally thousands of qualified pilots from all walks of life, a lot of whom have multiple recs and in's. There is a stack of applicants from all walks of life. United is opening an outreach to Veterans for those who haven't been in the game and had the opportunity to network. It's an opportunity to get face to face with someone that isn't at a job fair swamped with a million regional/corporate guys. SFO is within two legs of just about anywhere, and serviced by every US carrier.
Good luck to everyone that makes the trek, I'd like to see UAL pick up every vet there.
