Wow it shattered the the outer layer? What is that exactly? The frame?
I have heard of ball lighting just flowing through the cockpit to the tail messing up the instruments. Sounds scary but I thought the plane would be grounded from these type of things. At least that is what my flight instructor told me one time during a storm
