Fair enough but it is not "whipsaw" that is dying, it is the regional outsourcing model. If they are ever able to outsource pilot labor again (open skies...?), then you can be sure they'll whipsaw again. Outsourcing and whipsawing go hand in hand, and not just in the airlines.

I could see a merger happening someday, but I assume they would merge 2 of the 3 WO years before merging all 3. Consolidation among regionals has to happen someday, but whether it is tomorrow or 5 years from now I have no idea.
