The reality is that neither end of the political spectrum have exclusivity on many of the issues that you listed. Both sides share the blame and/or credit.
However, even a cursory analysis of history and current events shows clearly that it is generally the left that is more pro labor.
I agree with the idea that both sides are to blame but I definitely disagree with your last sentence. If I were to use your own words here's my perception:
'A cursory analysis of history and current events shows clearly that the left, generally, is more pro-government and supports getting blue collar addicted to government programs and handouts.'
