This is true. Or until there is a displacement bid, which there probably won't be any time soon (but you never know).

Usually when you show up to class they list what positions they need. A random example for a class of 25 would be:

10 DFW 175
10 ORD 145
5 LGA 145

They let the senior person in the class pick first, and so on until all slots are filled. Junior person in the class gets whatever is left. Back when I was hired seniority in class was based on age, I have no idea if it still is or not. Some airlines make it random instead (like last 4 digits of SS#).

Currently DFW is senior to ORD for FOs, and it takes I think about a year (just guessing). But with general movement in the airline increasing I would think it would improve (no guarantees).
