I got my own answer from multiple good sources, it is Gerry McGuckin. It definitely seemed too good to be true - so accustomed to getting effed over at this company. This mediator may not be Santa Claus but he sure appears to be the preferred choice (in comparison to the bios of every other NMB mediator) to hold the company accountable in negotiations. Several people are starting to come around to the idea that the union's proposed timeline to conclude section 6 negotiations (with a good contract) is an attainable goal.
He seems too good to be true. There are lots of mediators. He has to be the only former pilot who worked under Franke. It's no guarantee that he will lean in our direction, but it seems hard to believe he would lean in their direction. Even if he is completely fair and totally unbiased, I think our proposal is more than fair and the companies is bizarre and easily below industry average. I feel some degree of confidence here
