This is purely optimistic speculation, but given the company's opportunistic approach to aircraft acquisition and their recent bond issuing announcement (which was subsequently rescinded), I wonder if these rumors don't coincide with Air Berlin's plans to shed 75 aircraft in the next few months. They happen to operate high-capacity Airbuses with CFM engines and given the German nature were undoubtedly meticulously cared for.
I thought those Air Berlin Airbuses were being wet leased to Eurowings (a new low-cost Lufthansa subsidiary)?
