This is purely optimistic speculation, but given the company's opportunistic approach to aircraft acquisition and their recent bond issuing announcement (which was subsequently rescinded), I wonder if these rumors don't coincide with Air Berlin's plans to shed 75 aircraft in the next few months. They happen to operate high-capacity Airbuses with CFM engines and given the German nature were undoubtedly meticulously cared for.
It's more than speculation, this comes from credible sources. I'm just reporting what is being talked about at HQ/school house. I can't verify any of it other than it came from 'credible sources'
