It's not so easy for them to extend a pilot that is on a bidline. The CBA really limits the company on extending a bidline holder.
Anyway, I am not sure what you were trying to imply. Just because the company has some flexibility to extend a reserve line holder, does not negate the effects of pilots not picking up extra flying.
