Also have you spent much time at other regionals? There's a reason that half of SKW pilots came from other regionals...if something happens and you end up spending more time as a regional pilot than you planned (my entire generation got to do this for about 15 years) SKW is about the best place to be unless you live in a base for one of a handful of other regionals.
The loss-of-medical (aka loss of license) insurance has nothing to do with the company...it was arranged by SAPA for the benefit of those who want it. If you don't want it, don't sign up. It was not traded instead of something else.
The rehire policy is useful for folks who have been here a while. ANYBODY who is planning on doing the traditional career track of upgrading, getting 1K-2K TPIC and then going to a major should appreciate that. If you flunk out or get furloughed you would likely be able to come back here, get a paycheck and bennies, and then upgrade again in a couple years. Now you're probably at 7-10 years longevity which isn't horrible. I don't think it cost us much if anything, it's good for the company because it enables senior (expensive) CA's to move on with a fallback position.
Well first off 40 x 128 is 1120 and even including perf and quaterly bonuses it doesnt come near what other regionals are offering first year FO's or CA's in terms of compensation via bonus. Further your disqualifying statement of myself having NOT ( your right ) been at other regionals though being just fodder for flame makes an interesting point. For whatever reasons skw may have in fact been the place to hang your hat well things change. These two policies put in place are in my view of course minute attempts to appease a pilot group who is simply under compensated in todays market. Ill reiterate again that they only really help to benefit skw who I think going forward will be the group who is in fact no longer filling classes to the level they want because simply of money for a new hire. They are disguised to look beneficial as if the company cares but the reality is they are just saving themselves and protecting the product they have to offer to the majors going forward.
