justfun, just to be clear here, the conflict you discuss above was not about regional v. mainline but ALPA v. non-ALPA. Since APA was non-ALPA, they wouldn't do anything to hurt one of their own.
The ALPA Constitution and By-Laws has some language in it for regional v. mainline. A regional carrier can negotiate for what is best for their pilots, and a mainline carrier can negotiate what is best for theirs. There is no control of one over the other. There is a requirement to talk via the "meet and confer". It's not controlling language.
