Just throwing my two cents in: I went from the 145 to 175. Before I was crediting around 75 hours with 12-13 days off and now I'm averaging a little more than 80 hours with 14-16 days off. The airplane does matter when it comes to scheduling efficiencies and the routes they are chosen to fly. The same argument could be made for the crj 7 and 9's.
Is it worth it to go to a regional with substandard pay and benefits to fly a 175? Definitely not. Is under the wing jet time going to get you more ladies or an interview at mainline? Most likely not. At least it can get you a few more days off a month.
Now this argument makes sense to me. If someone ia going to use an airframe as part of an overall strategy to better one's QoL or pay, I'm all for it. That is just prudent thinking. I simply never thought of it that way as a newcomer to the 121 world. Now it makes sense.
