Umm, UAL, DAL and AMR are hiring about 1k a year EACH right now. Fedex, UPS, Alaska and SouthWest are hiring too. If you recall during 2001-2005 they were laying people off. 2007-2010 pretty much no hiring, so yeah, this is actually a time when 'majors' are hiring. (nothing against Spirit)
