Per just about EVERY airline's, and ALPA's Jumpseat policy, using the JS privilege to get back and forth to work is considered "getting around on your own time". Where just about any company that has home basing considers the positioning from home to the aircraft and back home again is considered "work time".

To answer the guys question, it's a bit of an apple's to oranges comparison. Most companies that have home basing have much different utilization needs out of crews and for the most part have them work most of their days at one time. Even at someplace like NetJets the guy is only being positioned twice in a 28 day period. Even companies that don't technically have home basing will position you or have a "bank" system to use for getting yourself to work and back.

In a perfect world, I'd be home based AND have CASS.
