Where do u flight instruct at?
I just bought a ticket back to HI, and while Im back im gonna check out the jobs and maybe see if there are any flight instructing jobs and see if they are worth staying for.
and as for all the negativity about HI, yes it is expensive, yes there is an ice problem, and yes sometimes Haole's are discriminated, BFD... maybe 1 or 2 times I got crap from a hawaiian for being a "haole"...and 1 of those 2 times, the guy that was giving me crap was on ice lol...
I am flight instructing part-time at the University of North Dakota while finishing school.

As far as flight instructor jobs in Hawaii, I'd check to see if the Honolulu Community College Aviation program is hiring. Call the Pacific Aerospace Training Center to find out... 808-837-8095. Their flight program is based out of the Kalaeloa Airport (old Barber's Point) though, so unless you live on that side of the island, it is quite a drive.

HCC is no longer dealing with UND. They are now contracting through Galvin Flight Services. They are flying brand new Diamond aircraft.

Of course there are other flight schools on the HNL south ramp. http://www.wecanfly.com/flyhi/fbo.htm

On the neighbor islands you may find some FBO's looking for instructors, but those are typically harder to sustain work. There are some tour companies that fly Cessna's of various models (172, 206, 207, 208) but you most definitely need to meet part 135 minimums first.
