At a regional without that pay protection you won't get paid for that day.
What it comes down to is you will probably credit about 90-95 hours each month at Skywest. Other places you are many times just getting the minimum monthly guarantee.
That's an extra 15-20 hours of pay each month.
This is huge, and I miss this greatly. First year guarantee here at 5Y is 50 hours (62 each month after 1 year). It was not unheard of to be removed from your line mid pattern once you had credited 50 hours of pay to be sent home to sit a 10 hour callout at home. This type of reserve is unpaid and there is no line guarantee so if you don't work it you lose it
Of course they're not doing that now due to staffing, but I nearly choked on a chicken bone when I found out about this.
