Just to be clear, are you saying walking up the jet bridge 13 prior to push for maybe 60 seconds total compromises safety? If everything is done minus plugging in bags and pax, which conceivably any FO should be able to do, how is taking the walk detrimental to the effort to "increase safety"?? Should I not get up out of my seat 10-15 prior to take a leak, which is my normal routine, so that I'm more safe? Because me taking a leak and me walking to the top of the jet bridge takes about the same amount of time. Checking for jumpseaters doesn't mean rushing and/or missing checklist items. It is possible to both be safe and not leave your commuting brothers behind in this high company pressure environment.
