Someone demonstrating through higher education that they can "think" and "learn" will always have an edge when it comes to hiring. Add to that being able to fly an airplane, program a computer, serve as a nurse... or whatever the "skill" is, succeeds any value you already provide.

I agree that there must have been other issues if they were already found qualified and hired. But discrediting the value of posessing a degree while performing a skilled job is a self serving waste of time.
