I agree. It would be a win-win. The pilots get a good rate to fly all aircraft, and don't have to jockey for position to get the higher pay. The company gets to not have as many training cycles, as people are more likely to stay on their fleet. As it has been said above, the 717 rate is slightly below 320, and the 321 is slightly above 320. Make it the same.
The fly in the ointment will be wide-bodies. I do agree in splitting out that (future) fleet as it is a whole other animal.
What we should do (if we were really smart) is set up pay based on seat ranges, not aircraft types. If we had a 100-125 seat rate, a 125-175 seat rate, and a 175 to 225 seat rate no one would argue that the 100-125 rate should be left behind. Unfortunately too many people are stuck on the "ERJ" in the type and feel superior to it, and don't care what happens to it as a result.
