He's not talking about converting from one logbook to another. He's referring to a logbook being able to login to a company website (Sabre, Flica, what have you) and download flight times stored in the company database by ACARS, which is an automated system that talks between the aircraft and company. One can log into a website and view times. But some logbooks can also extract data from said company websites.

Not sure because I'm not at an airline yet, but what do they use?

If any of these it can import directly into SafeLog
