Airline pilots do not start out their career as airline pilots,they come from all different backgrounds and experiences.
Military,corporate,air ambulance,charter,crop dusters,night cargo.
I have flown with airline guys with all of these backgrounds.
I even flew with a former Eastern captain who had thirty years at that airline prior to flying night freight with us and he adapted as well as any of us.
Like myself most of them had acquired more than one pilot skill set prior to becoming "airline pilots".
Give the old guys a chance ,you may just learn a few things.
