Housing allowance is around $45k/year, TAX FREE. That surpasses the $40/hr difference bewtween 15 NB and WB captain pay, particularly when that hourly rate is taxed. Then take into account all CH and perdiem are international, and in some cases the travel expenses paid by HILO and HILO/perdiem only. As I said - it's not all pensionable. I also lived it. Made more as a NB FO there than most MEM WB FO's in my seniority (except for some of the 777 guys).
My point was that the oft-repeated "going to Europe for low NB pay is unsat" does not cover the full story.
Guess the guys I know aren't the "most senior" over there cause they aren't. The most senior in any seat can always maximize their pay. I get the 45k offsets the pay diff (295 vs 254). However your misconception is that they are the highest paid in the company. No comparison. There are some in HKG swinging big but 777 takes the cake hands down(some 11 folks are doing quite well also) and not just "the most senior" and not just a few. I get your point, I'm just correcting the facts so some don't think if they go over there, its the richest seat in the house.
