I'm quite surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet. So I'll go ahead and shed some light.
Allegiant had/has what we called mixed lines (now switching to 'composite' lines). Just a mix of reserve and flights. The beauty was that you could essentially pick what days you wanted reserve and what days you wanted to fly, and since getting used on reserve doesn't happen terribly often (depending on base, equip, etc), you could plan on having a lot more days at home. Also, open time pickups were never a 117 problem (the icing on the cake for this type of schedule)
Well, apparently as of Jan schedules, this is gone. It will now be composite lines, with basically a mash of whatever's left over after all trips are assigned. I'm assuming this is probably what it was intended to be all along, because the way we had it was just to good to be true (at least for me). I was working about 6 days a month (or less), and crediting between 85-95 hours.
So, that's a deterioration in qol for me, but I was told long ago by the union that those schedules probably wouldn't last; and the way its going is probably better for all parties involved, overall.
my 2 cents.
