In our interview session: Classes for 747 and 767 available for the first half of 2017; second half of 2017 will be all 767 (no chance of whale classes). Also estimated 3 to 5 year upgrades to Captain in the 747 (I remember this distinctly as I thought "In just 3 years, I probably wouldn't want to be the CA flying into some of those airports!")
So I think mgt fully anticipates the coming problem of expansion and attrition of experience. How they can push thru that much training, that's going to be difficult. If they sign a leading or even industry matching contract - the attrition problem is probably cut in half.
It looks like pool times are reaching 4 months; so I am still hopeful to be in the front of the wave for upgrades - getting interviewed before March is going to make a large difference.
I drank zero cups of kool-aide in the interview room.

Yeah... There will be a ton of movement all the way up to 747 Captain. You won't be a 747 Captain in 3 years unless there's massive expansion there and there are no real current plans for that. The Amazon contract requires 500 additional pilots.... I bet there are 747 classes all year because most of the 767 Captains will come from the 747 right seat.
As for management... None of us know what they're thinking. As they upgrade all of these 767 Captains they're just gonna turn right around and leave. It's a mystery to all of us how they'll grow our force 500 while typing guys in the left seat of a 767 when Delta, American, United, UPS, and FedEx are all hiring into the right seat of that airplane. Many of the First Officers will get a type that immediately sends them to the same companies.
I do think that being hired early in the year will work out decent for you if nobody hires you away before you get to the left seat of the 767. We're gonna have a record year for hiring at Atlas next year.
