Wait, what?
Every comment I've made is focused on the UAL CBA for UAL pilots on the UAL property. I'm aware that Delta Airlines and the DAL MEC are exploring virtual bases, good for them! Their book is different than ours in many meaningful ways that would never allow an apples to apples valuation of their virtual basing model simply overlaid to our work rules. For UAL pilots to box themselves in based on something that works at DAL (if it works) would be myopic.
If UAL pilots were to add VB through membership ratification I'd abide by it, but, it's our responsibility to know what we're giving up. I think there's too little discussion about why we have the current staffing rules and how things were decades ago without them. VB's have the potential to gut 40+ years of gains and remove significant value from our CBA. For that kind of give, it damn well better be to the benefit of every pilot, not those that happen to live in a 3rd their city that can't support a real domicile.
