It all seems odd. There's been an unsettling quiet among everyone from union and management I've talked to.
All company-pilot contract negotiations have halted, and no one has any information or even rumors.
It does feel like something is brewing up in Appleton. Either way 31 pilots gone this month which means if they don't raise retention bonuses or announce something big, by about the beginning of summer flying we won't have the capacity to fulfill the contract.
Best case: we get a new long-term contract
Worse case: we announce closure which would place AWAC in 'distress' status which should help the more senior guys into the Majors and the junior guys into LLCs. It's not ideal but it's not another regional.
Not sure if i agree with your "worse case". How will a closure announcement advance a pilots app? I actually think if AWAC announces a closure LLC carriers will get a lot more apps.
