My advice: Do not show your cards, unless you are absolutely positive that you no longer want to make the AF a career. My suggestion: HAND CARRY your paperwork thru!! Your leadership does not have to concur with your decision to get out, but they CAN NOT sit on it. It is up to AFPC to determine whether you get approved or not...NOT YOUR BASE LEADERSHIP.
Pirate PM me for details, I'm having difficulty getting PM to work.
Although my SQ/CC was a good sport about it, I did get the run around from the OG/CC and WG/CC. You technically do not need a signature from the OG/CC, but at my unit, so many pilots were bailing left and right (I think I was like #12 in a year), the OG wanted to put his .02 in. He tried to hold mine up, but I just happened to have a copy of the Force Shaping guidance and convenient highlighted the part that says "unit level leadership WILL NOT delay, reroute or deny Palace Chase packages" and that all unit level authority over approval/disapproval has been suspended. Your WG/CC can check the disapproval box on the PC form and it doesn't mean jack squat. In fact, my WG/CC didn't approve mine and I still got approved 3 weeks after submitting the package. That shows you how long they were thinking about letting guys go. If leadership gives you a problem, go to the MPF and get a copy of the guidance and make sure they know that you know they're not supposed to jerk you around.
