If you never appeared in court before a judge, there was no conviction?? As an example, in VA if you are pulled over for anything over 80mph, it is automatically wreckless driving. If a lawyer goes in and talks the judge down to use of excessive speed and you pay a fine...I'm not sure you were convicted of anything.
What does your driving record say? This is one of those cases where you may want to consult with one of those interview prep people. They have experience in how to handle this stuff.
