There is no requirement for "turbine experience" there are FAA requirements anything else is airline dependent. The majors prior to 2012 have had pilots by the proverbial short hairs which is where this BS requirement for a degree came from, a lot of these requirements will be gone in three years. This is why the FAA with ALPAs help rewrote the minimum requirements for an ATP.
Young pilots need to remember that airline pilots were hired with a commercial license and with the auto pilots of today that is all you really need.
We need to get back to the days when pilots stood together and ensured they were paid for the responsibility they have. I can tell you the flying public has no idea that pilots "volunteer" to work for minimum wage. It is sad but it is still happening.
