Is there an official separation between mainline and regional pilot groups within ALPA? If so then that would be a huge conflict of interests. Even so, a unified "regional" workforce would have a ton of leverage. So much that it would probably be pointless to have such a workforce around. Which would be to every pilot's advantage..
Also, I believe the unionized groups vastly outweigh the non-unionized groups.
