Quote: Congradulations Mr. Hood. A lot of people don't realize that what you were able to do, getting in and getting out, was a great accomplishment. Everyone has the worry that they might screw up and kill their career. At some airlines you have to worry also what circumstances out of your control might make it more economical for the airline to destroy your career in order to meet one of their needs. There have been a lot of airlines like this over the years but it is worse now because the PRIA gives an airline like this the ability to squeeze you by the balls. Airlines of this genera will make maintenance sign off planes so they may fly when they should not, or pilots fly airplanes that should not fly. They may make people change maintenance logs or other paperwork to hid things of the past. Do what they say or they will fire you. Many of you are thinking, go ahead and fire me! Try getting another job when you try and explain this to the person interviewing you. Nobody wants to believe that there are airlines that do things like this and if they do they don't want to get involved. When these airlines violate the law and you are fired, the first question you will get in your interviews about this is, "Isn't that illegal? That will be followed by, did the union do anything? Did you file a lawsuit?" Well, yes it was illegal, the union is grieving it so the new airline won't hire you because if you win the grievance you will leave to go back. If you filed a lawsuit then who will want to hire you when you have a history of suing your employer. If you didn't file a suit then what you are saying must not have any basis. Basically, with PRIA you are not going to win. File a suit and get a 500,000 court award, ok, will the next employer want to take the chance that you might sue them. There is no substitute for going to an airline of quality.
So my question stands to everyone working at ****ty regionals, not just G7.....why stay and risk the cert, when you can go someplace with work rules, management that actually gives a **** and planes that aren't being flown illegally? There are TONS of flying jobs right now, some that are actually livable and fun. Guys / Gals from our shop are being sucked up by SWA, Alaska, United, etc....the regionals aren't the only pathway anymore which is great news for all of us.
